As expected, Moog Music has officially announced the Sub Phatty, a 2-osc monosynth with sub-oscillator and 2-octave keyboard for $1,099. The synth includes the traditional Moog lowpass filter with overdrive.
It appears to have 16 presets arranged in four banks of four – the >1000 presets on the Voyager were always a bit extreme for a synth that originally had zero. The sound demos sound close to the Voyager at first listen.
Street price seems to be $999. The only other fully analog synth under $1,000 is the Arturia Minibrute, which sells for $499. However, there are rumors of a Korg MS20 reissue at NAMM which may offer some further competition.
Visit the Moog site for further details and a sound demo.
